What makes the Ferrari Purosangue special

The Purosangue was unveiled in September 2022 and it broke several Ferrari traditions at once. It is the first Ferrari with four doors, and the rear doors are hinged at the back, opening in the opposite direction to the front ones. Ferrari calls them "welcome doors", and in practice they make getting into the rear seats much easier than in any 2+2 coupe. Inside there are four separate sports seats, so the passengers in the back get the same kind of seat as the driver.

The heart of the car is the engine. Ferrari chose a 6.5-litre V12 with no turbochargers and no hybrid system, mounted behind the front axle. It produces 725 CV at 7,750 rpm, and most of its 716 Nm of torque is available from low revs, so the car pulls strongly in town and still loves to rev on an open road. Power goes through an 8-speed dual-clutch gearbox and an all-wheel-drive system designed to keep the car feeling like a rear-driven Ferrari in most situations.

The technology underneath is just as unusual. The Purosangue uses Ferrari Active Suspension Technology, a fully active system that controls each wheel individually. It keeps the body flat in fast corners and smooths out bumps when you are cruising, which is why the car can feel both comfortable on the motorway and sharp on a mountain road. Ferrari also uses lightweight materials, including a carbon-fibre roof, to keep the centre of gravity low.

Driving the Purosangue in Dubai

Dubai's roads suit this car well. Long, wide highways let you enjoy the V12 at legal speeds, while the raised driving position and four doors make it easy to live with in traffic and at hotel entrances. A few routes our customers enjoy:

  • Sheikh Zayed Road – the city's main artery, lined with skyscrapers and most enjoyable early in the morning or late in the evening when traffic is lighter.
  • Jumeirah Beach Road – a slower, more relaxed drive along the coast, past beaches, villas and the Burj Al Arab.
  • Palm Jumeirah – a short loop to the Atlantis end of the Palm, ideal for photos with the sea and skyline behind you.
  • Hatta and Jebel Jais – for a day trip, the mountain roads towards Hatta or up Jebel Jais in Ras Al Khaimah show off the active suspension and the all-wheel drive.

Please keep in mind that speed limits are strictly enforced across the UAE, with fixed and mobile cameras on all major roads. The Purosangue is fast enough to exceed any limit in seconds, so plan to enjoy the sound and the comfort rather than the top speed.

Occasions that suit the Purosangue

Because it carries four people in comfort, the Purosangue works for occasions where a two-seat supercar would leave someone behind:

  • Weddings – the rear-hinged doors make a graceful entrance and exit for the couple, and there is room for a guest or photographer.
  • Business meetings – arrive with colleagues or clients at a meeting in DIFC or Downtown without needing a second car.
  • Photo and video shoots – a distinctive shape and a rare car on the road, ideal for brand content or personal shoots.
  • Birthdays and anniversaries – a memorable surprise that the whole family can share.
  • Proposals – combine a sunset drive with a stop on the Palm or at a desert viewpoint.

Rental requirements in Dubai

The rules for renting a high-performance car in Dubai are similar across suppliers. Before booking, please check that you meet the following conditions:

  • Minimum age – 21 years; for some high-performance models it can be higher, and we confirm it in your quote (see our rental conditions).
  • Driving licence – a valid licence is required. Tourists from many countries can drive in the UAE on their home licence; visitors from other countries need an International Driving Permit together with their national licence.
  • Passport and entry stamp – a copy of your passport and visa or entry stamp is needed for tourists. UAE residents can use their Emirates ID and UAE licence.
  • Security deposit – a refundable deposit or a pre-authorisation on a credit card is held during the rental and released after the car is returned and any fines have been checked.
  • Salik tolls and fines – road tolls (Salik) and any traffic fines are charged to the renter.
  • Insurance – comprehensive insurance is included; the terms and any excess are explained before you sign.
  • Mileage – rentals come with a daily kilometre limit, and extra kilometres are charged.

Purosangue vs 12Cilindri: which V12 Ferrari to rent?

Both cars use a naturally aspirated 6.5-litre V12 mounted at the front, but they are built for different trips. The Ferrari 12Cilindri is a low two-seat grand tourer with a more powerful version of the engine (830 CV) and is aimed at drivers who want a pure, long-bonnet sports car for two. The Purosangue gives up some of that output but adds four doors, four full seats, a higher seating position and all-wheel drive.

In short: choose the 12Cilindri for a romantic weekend or a solo drive, and the Purosangue when you travel with family, friends or colleagues, or when you plan a trip to the mountains. Both are equally at home on Sheikh Zayed Road; the difference is how many people you want to take with you.
