What makes the Ferrari F8 special
Ferrari presented the F8 Tributo at the Geneva Motor Show in 2019 as the successor to the 488 GTB, and the F8 Spider followed later the same year in Frankfurt. The name is a tribute to Ferrari's V8 engine family, and the car was built around a 3.9-litre twin-turbo unit derived from the one in the track-focused 488 Pista, with the same 720 cv output, from an engine family that won several International Engine of the Year awards.
The figures are serious: 720 cv, 770 Nm of torque and 0-100 km/h in 2.9 seconds, with a top speed of 340 km/h. The coupé has a dry weight of around 1,330 kg, roughly 40 kg less than the 488 GTB it replaced. On the road, Ferrari's variable torque management makes the engine pull harder in each higher gear, so the car feels strong at any speed.
The design carries several references to Ferrari's past. The coupé's rear screen is made of lightweight Lexan with louvres, a nod to the F40, and the twin round tail lights recall classic Ferraris of the 1970s and 1980s. At the front, the S-Duct borrowed from the 488 Pista channels air over the bonnet to increase downforce. Electronics such as Side Slip Control and the Ferrari Dynamic Enhancer help keep the car stable when you press on.
The F8 Spider uses the same engine and gearbox. Its retractable hard top opens or closes in about 14 seconds and can be operated at speeds of up to 45 km/h.
Tributo or Spider: which version to choose
The two cars share their performance figures, so the choice is mostly about how you plan to use the car. The F8 Tributo is the purer driver's car: slightly lighter, with a fixed roof and the classic berlinetta silhouette. It is a good option in the summer months, when a closed cabin is most comfortable.
The F8 Spider is the one most people picture when they think of cruising past the beaches and hotels of Dubai with the roof down. It is especially popular from November to March and for photo shoots. Tell us which version you prefer when you ask for a quote and we will check what is available for your dates.
Driving the F8 in Dubai
Dubai's roads are wide and well surfaced, which makes the city a comfortable place to get used to a mid-engined Ferrari. A few routes worth planning:
- Sheikh Zayed Road – the main artery of the city, lined with the skyline of Downtown Dubai and Business Bay. Best early in the morning or late in the evening.
- Jumeirah Beach Road – a slower, more relaxed drive along the coast, past the Burj Al Arab and the beach clubs. Ideal for the Spider.
- Palm Jumeirah – the drive along the trunk and the crescent to Atlantis is a favourite for photos and short evening outings.
- Hatta and Jebel Jais – for a proper driving day, head east to the Hajar Mountains. The roads to Hatta and up Jebel Jais in Ras Al Khaimah suit the F8 far better than city traffic.
Keep in mind that speed limits are strictly enforced and fixed and mobile cameras are everywhere, including on mountain roads. The car is fast enough to enjoy at legal speeds, and any fines registered during the rental will be charged to the renter.
Occasions for renting a Ferrari F8
Many clients rent an F8 for a specific moment rather than for daily transport:
- Weddings – an arrival car for the couple, or a red Ferrari for the wedding photos.
- Proposals and anniversaries – a sunset drive along the coast.
- Birthdays – a surprise for someone who has always wanted to drive a Ferrari.
- Business trips – arriving at meetings or events in a car that makes an impression.
- Photo and video shoots – for influencers, brands and production teams.
If you only need the car for a few hours, see our options to rent a Ferrari by the hour or day in Dubai.
Rental requirements in Dubai
Requirements vary slightly between suppliers, but for a supercar such as the F8 expect the following:
- Minimum age – 21 years; for some high-performance models it can be higher, and we confirm it in your quote (see our rental conditions).
- Driving licence – a valid licence. Tourists from many countries (including the UK, EU countries, the USA and GCC states) can drive on their home licence; others need an International Driving Permit together with their national licence.
- Documents – passport and visa or entry stamp for visitors; Emirates ID and UAE licence for residents.
- Security deposit – a refundable deposit or a pre-authorisation on a credit card.
- Tolls and fines – Salik road tolls and any traffic fines are charged to the renter.
- Insurance – comprehensive insurance; the conditions are explained in the rental agreement.
- Mileage – rentals come with a daily kilometre limit, and extra kilometres are charged.

Ferrari F8 vs Ferrari 296
The F8's natural successor in the Ferrari range is the 296, and the two make an interesting comparison. The F8 is the last of Ferrari's mid-engined V8 berlinettas without electrification: a pure twin-turbo V8 with a deep, familiar Ferrari sound and a relatively simple driving experience. The 296 uses a 3.0-litre V6 combined with an electric motor in a plug-in hybrid system, with a combined output of 830 cv, and it can also drive short distances in silent electric mode.
The 296 is the more advanced car, while the F8 appeals to those who want the character of a V8 and a more traditional feel. If you are undecided, read more about how to rent a Ferrari 296 in Dubai.
